Gum Health Day 2025 - BSP Competition
On the 12th May, we will be joining with National Perio Societies from around the world to celebrate Gum Health Day.
Gum Health Day, an annual event spearheaded by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), aims to raise public awareness of the negative impact of gum disease and the serious health problems associated with it.
We want the public to know that maintaining healthy gums and good oral hygiene can improve self-esteem and overall wellbeing. In addition, we want to increase awareness that gum health is a key factor for overall health throughout our life and is associated with major systemic and/or chronic health issues including diabetes, myocardial infarction, heart failure, stroke, chronic kidney disease, adverse pregnancy outcomes, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer s disease, and more.
This year's campaign slogan is "Gums rock! Keep smiling!” and our aim is to empower people with the information needed to protect their gums, promoting a healthier and happier society!
#GumHealthDay #GumsRock #KeepSmiling
To help us spread the important message about good gum health, we encourage you to promote this campaign to your patients and in your practice waiting rooms. Please also direct your patients to the helpful information on our website, where all resources are free to download: https://www.bsperio.org.uk/patients/gum-health-day-2025
**BSP Competition**
This year we are running a Gum Health Day competition with fantastic prizes to be won!
To enter, you must create an image or short video which portrays you and/or your team promoting gum health and the campaign. You can embody this years slogan, "Gums rock! Keep smiling!” or choose one of the official Gum Health Day slogans listed below:
- Feel as fresh as your breath!
- Be as healthy as your gums!
- Empower your smile with your dental team by your side.
- Boost your gums for the future.
- Shine bright with a smile!
- Smile with confidence every day!
- Strong gums, happy smiles!
- Your smile is your hallmark.
- Gum disease: if you learn about it, you can prevent it.
- Gums rock! Keep smiling!
You may choose to illustrate the importance of visiting your dental team or have your own angle for promoting gum health. Your submission must focus on your efforts to prevent or treat gum disease. This is an opportunity to be as creative as you wish, as there are no restrictions on how you do this. It could be artwork, running a public event, a school/nursing home visit, a practice initiative, baking, posed photograph, informative or funny video – the possibilities are endless!
